A one-of-a-kind original oil painting combining art history with my own colorful, contemporary style.
The figures in this piece are inspired by the work of Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre, whose collection I saw at the Museo Reina Sofía in Spain last summer. The female figure comes from his painting Himalayan Fig Tree, while the male figure is inspired by his painting Drago, both part of his Earth Poem collection.
I brought the two figures together on a contemporary wavy green gingham background, giving the original imagery my own playful, colorful twist.
Details:
• Original oil painting, painted by me
• Oil on cardboard, mounted onto Gator Board
• Framed with a wooden frame and plexiglass
• Ready to hang, hooks are installed on the back
• 58" W × 39.5" H
• Frame is approximately 1.25" thick
• Surprisingly lightweight and easy to carry, though I recommend two people hold it from each side for transport
This is a large, vibrant statement piece that would bring color, pattern, and a little art-history conversation to a space.
